What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team:

After graduation from the 2 year Travel and Tourism program at Algonquin College I decided to move to Toronto to find work in my field of study. I spent 3 years working full time planning vacations and on the side organizing events for me and my friends. I always knew I loved planning any sort of event and decided it was time for a change and to go back to school to make event planning my career. Due to my love of music and the 80’s in general I am very excited to be involved in planning the Rock This Way event and helping raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation.

What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team:

My desire from a young age to positively contribute led me to pursue a degree in Political Science at Carleton University in Ottawa. During my undergrad I realized that the world of politics was not for me and I sought other avenues to not only contribute but to channel my creative side—long cast away in the university library. I had frequently recognized the power in events to educate and entertain. And after scouring programs, I decided upon Event Management at Algonquin College. It was totally choice!! Our team came up with Rock This Way. I was inspired by pop culture’s revival of the 80s aesthetic and the rock music that had gone along with it. Coming from a musical family, with a drum studio in my house, I was excited about providing a venue for bands to play live music. Not only that, Rock This Way’s philanthropic mission to raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation has given myself, along with all my team mates, the motivation to make this event a truly radical success.

What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team:

Coming from a Media and Communications background, I was exposed to several elements of the media industry. After getting my certificate in Media and Communications, I decided I want to take a pro active approach to doing something I loved: event planning. When our team developed the Rock This Way event, I fell in love with the idea of bringing back 80’s rock and letting music bring a group of people together which I feel it does constantly. My love of music, event planning and having great hands on work ethic were a perfect match for this event and creating it with my creative, hard working team members. Additionally, doing this for a great charity like the Children’s Wish Foundation makes all the hard work and perseverance totally worth it. I love that I can do what I’m passionate about, work with amazing people and form a partnership with a wonderful cause. I’m hoping our event will make other people want to partner with this wonderful charity as well.

What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team: During a 3 years Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication Course at VIPS (IP University) in India , when I managed events at my own college , I inclined more towards events and wanted to excel in this field . After my graduation , I worked as a hostess in many big events in my own country which dragged me more into events . Then all the way from India , I come to Canada to learn different types of events and how to manage them more effectively . So, my curiosity to know about different events and music being all-time favorite activity took me to Rock This Way event and I decided to help in managing this event and contributing my efforts to help raise money for the Children's Wish Foundation.

After getting a general BA with a minor in music from the University of Ottawa, I realized that I really love bringing people together and making their day better for it. This inspired me to take event management at Algonquin. My love for music, technical theatre, and the great things the Children's Wish Foundation does led me to join the Rock This Way team.

What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team:

After finishing my BA in English from China Pharmaceutical University, I felt that it was time for me to travel around and see the world, to expand my horizon and find a better self. Although coming to Canada is a decision that I made with my family, Event Management program is something that I insist on and have great passion about because the ideal that event planners are capable bringing people together, to share, to social and to have a great time, deeply amazes and dazzles me..Rock This Way team attracts me with this great idea of 80's rock theme and my passion for music tells me to get involved and be part of it. Also doing an event that can help raise money for Children's Wish Foundation would be the most honourable pleasure of all!

What Brought Me to the Rock This Way Team:

Hillary graduated from Fleming College with a Business Administration Diploma in Marketing last year. She has had a passion for events and wanted to further specialize into the world of events marketing. Her journey to the Algonquin College stated with her acceptance into the Events Management Program. Being new to the Ottawa area, Hillary has fallen in love with the culture and romance of living in our country's capital. Having a passion for social responsibility, Hillary is more than excited to be planning a fundraising event for such a worthwhile cause as the Children’s Wish Foundation.
